Does anyone have any tips on training puppies?
Posted on May 20, 2010 under training puppies | 5 CommentsI have two 10 month old puppies who are both very scatty and silly! They respond to their names within the house and in the garden, but not when we’ve tried them off their leashes. Does anyone have any tips on how to train them? Thank you!
depends what breeds they are, especially if they are energetic breeds , i am also in the process of training my 4 month old yellow labrodor puppy , i find that using food/treats as a reward really helps them to be trained
also definately go to puppy/dog training classes
iff u giv them alot of excersise this should help calm them down a bit so they are easier to train ….

I, myself am in the process of training my dog. He’s a chihuahua and responds to his name in the house and garden but not off the leash. A great way to enforce this, is be paitent with your 10 month old puppies. When you take them on walks call their names and see if they respond.. take them in the garden and take them off the leash and try to call them to you every couple of minutes, if they come reward them with a treat and praise them. doing this often could let them know that coming back to their owner when called will let them be praised and feed with a treat.

You should get them in a puppy training class as soon as you can this will give you a good foundation for further obedience training and they will get some important socialization.

use rewards and toys i use treats i all ways give one when i call them so start by keeping on lead use a treat when you call them show them what you have make them sit give them a treat for doing as you ask with plenty of praise keep thisup untill they understand what you want then you can take the laed off . keep calling them back and sit give treat and praise they will soon learn how it works dont tell them off or shout at them they wont come back if you do so grit your teeth and reward and praise
