well i am going to take my 11month old rott/lab dog,, to obedience training, its group training with other dogs once a week for 6weeks.

here’s the question, will he obey strangers?? because right now he is a good guard dog, he barks at people around the house, and is aways alert, will this obedience training change him?

also, i go hunting with him in the creeks, he digs out rat, and rabbit holes chases them and captures them,, will he stop this? he also catches pest birds, and gives them to me(no harm).

and we play chase games and wrestle and stuff,

so pritty much, will i still have a fun dog who obeys me more but still, hunts, digs, plays wrestle, and chase, and is a good guard dog and not listen to strangers

thanks verry much!
F**King perfect answer Leva T thanks!!!!!!

You dog will continuously need to be trained until he’s an adult. Somewhere around 3 years old. The obedience classes will start you on the right path. They are classes for humans to learn the right techniques and psychology for training your dog. Especially when you own a larger dog, you have a greater responsibility to train it right, because if not, the damage caused by your pet could be much greater than those tiny dogs. So after your training, in order to have a truly obedient dog you will have to train him almost everyday, for a couple of years. It will get easier and easier. The key is in consistency.

About playing, dogs like to play. If trained well, your dog will play but you will have full control of him. He will stop if you tell him so. Regardless of how much he’s into it. Also, they naturally protect their territory. They are aware of strangers, trained or untrained. The difference between trained Vs. untrained though, is that you will not receive calls from animal control for your dog scaring or attaching innocent people just because he can.

Your dog will respond to you as you are the one training him. It is never a good idea to wrestle and tug of war with your dog as this encourages dominant behavior.
