This is a guard dog training video of attack training Alex the black German Shepherd. Earl Dunne is the handler and primary trainer. Alex is not finished with his attack dog training although bites very well. Excellent obedience training should always come before personal protection bite work. Feel free to visit our site for dog training of any type including police dog training, personal protection guard dogs, and even aggression rehabilitation. All dogs at K9-1 Specialized Dog Training are trained with respect, knowledge, and patience.

Personal protection attack dog training video of a 7 month old German Shepherd/ Belgian Malinois mix puppy. Although this dog isn’t old enough to do real guard dog work it is being prepared to do real protection work… sort of like sending a child to karate class. He will finish guard dog training at about 18 months old. Quality protection dog training takes patience, respect, and knowledge. If a dog is trained with yelling and intimidation…how do you expect them to do protection work on a yelling man? Beware of people who sell sport dogs (aka schutzhund trained dogs) as “personal protection dogs. Sport dogs are trained to look pretty doing specific protection routines on a training field and may be confused in a real situation when there is not a bite sleeve or protection suit to bite. Also these types of protection dogs are trained to take stick hits instead of avoiding them and attcking that arm. This is because you can’t hold the stick with an arm within sleeve and schutzhund is a sport that is meant to prove a dogs bravery and show they are worthy of breeding, therefore they are trained to take stick hits that are always used with a stick that won’t really hurt the dog and are always hit on safe spots of the body. This is setting the dog up for failer when they must fight a person for real that is planning on hitting them in the head with an iron bar. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the dog

@medicman21211 its …
@medicman21211 its not KING german shepherd its just KING SHEPHERD its a larger breed that i was told isnt as tenacious and doesnt have the attack drive that the belgian malinois or that the standard german shepherd have, so its not really used for police or military work

@Taud What is a King GSD??? now remember I have been training from 1977 until
now and I was in the military in 2002 as a K-9 handler

@pyrografix Uhm… …
@pyrografix Uhm… contest? I said that if they had the same drive that the other breeds, i was confused as to why they used other breeds instead of the king? if it was essentially “the same” why are other chosen over it, i was warned if i was looking for a guard dog, king sheps are definitely not the breed for me, so instead of just replying to my question you get all butthurt insulting intelligence, and really this isnt even my video? i dont know where youre coming from on that one

@Really? You are …
@Really? You are actually trying to have a contest with me on this after all I said was I wanted to try to pursue this training with one of my dogs. Really? I misjudged you. I thought perhaps you were a fairly intelligent individual. If you had any intelligence, you would actually READ about the KS and see that they were bred primarily from large GSDs.I guess you can’t take a simple compliment on the posting of your video without turning it into a contest. Read and learn.

@pyrografix Well …
@pyrografix Well there must be something better about the standard german or the belgian/dutch or else the king shepherd would be prefered by military and police no? wouldnt they be used often if they were useful at all? ive never seen a king used by an officer dobe and rott…yes… more than once ive seen them… belgian/dutch but never a king, it must be health or performance related…

@Taud @Taud I would …
@Taud @Taud I would say that breeder’s statement was born out of ignorance of the breed. They are NOT timid dogs, they have just as much prey drive as any breed, some dogs more than others within a breed, they are EXTREMELY athletic, contrary to popular belief (usually that belief is via GSD enthusiasts), VERY intelligent and willing to please.

@pyrografix when i …
@pyrografix when i was looking for a guard dog a breeder had once told me that the king shepherds dont have the same attack drive that the standard german and belgian do and despite often being larger theyre very timid and likely to run away instead of fight, its why they arent very popular anymore especially with police/military in comparison to the standard german and dutch or belgian shepherds…
